Jangl.com

Jangl is another service providing anonymous phone numbers similar to safephonecalls, a service I reviewed in my previous post. The biggest difference I can see between the two is that unlike safephonecalls, jangl gives you a unique 10 digit phone number for each person you don’t want to share your real number with. You can also turn off a number and that person simply won’t be able to reach you. Another twist is that they can, in return, prevent you from calling them back if you’re the one who turns out to be the weirdo with 50 cats.

All you have to do to sign up is give jangl your phone number, select an ID, and enter in your email address. You then have to call a number that jangl provides, and select a 4 digit pin. This is the number said callers use to get in touch with you.

When someone asks for your number, simply tell them to go to jangl.com and enter in your 4 digit pin number. They will then receive a number to reach you at which isn’t your real number at all. When they call you, their jangl number will show up on caller ID and you will know who’s calling because each person has their own number. All of these numbers are stored in your jangl account, so you can access them at any time.

As of now jangl is a free service. They claim that as they release new versions of the service they will reach a point where they will release it as a paid service. I don’t know if that means you have to pay just to use the upgrades or pay to use the service all together. It’s a little unclear.
