GetVendors.com
Get vendors is a social network for households. “Rely on our web community to connect with local service pros, manage household chores, & daily to-dos, and share everyday ideas with friends.”
Registration
Select a screen name and submit your email and zip code. It says that email verification is required, but I didn’t need to check my email in order to use getvendors. I was taken right to my getvendors homepage.
Features
Once you’re in, you can create to-do lists, file all of your favorite services, create quite a few types of lists, and store “tidbits” that really don’t have any particular place to go. You can create and browse groups and get matched to recommended service pros in your area. Just select a service category, location, and whatever requirement details you may have. Getvendors will try to find a match to your request (e.g. painter, contractor, auto mechanic…).
My opinion
I really like the idea of getvendors, but there just isn’t a lot of content up there yet. It just launched this month, so I am curious to see how the communities will grow. I requested a match for a painter, a landscaper, and a dog sitter in the Seattle area and there were no matches for any of them. I wanted to recommend an auto mechanic in my neighborhood that I know is great, but I had to have his email in order to submit my recommendation. I have no idea what this guys email address is and I wouldn’t feel comfortable asking him. I think more people may be inclined to use this service if they could simply logon and give a name and address of a service pro they feel is extra special. So, I’ll check back to the site in a few months to see if they have more content, and to see if I can recommend the most awsome auto mechanic in Seattle.

Thanks for reviewing our website..You are right, as far as vendor match is concerned currently we have good data in California but not in other places. We are trying hard to get good traction in other areas as well. Plan is to have local niche communities where we have active group members, users, and recommended services. Regarding recommendation of a pro, once we are done with our integration, favorite services uploaded by members of a community group will be visible on our community group pages. Saving favorite services do not have any mandatory fields. After verification of services they will be included in our vendor match engine. General recommendation is just a place holder till our groups get active. I guess it’s just software..never really finishes on deadline
. Again thanks, your review is very helpful..
